(My sojourn in Chhindwara comes to an end this week. It began unexpectedly when my son assumed the charge of Police Chief here. What was intended as a brief respite from Delhi’s oppressive heat stretched into a year-long embrace of Chhindwara’s tranquil environ.
As I prepare to leave, the realisation dawns that Chhindwara, in its unassuming grace, has etched itself into the fabric of my being. The thought of departure brings a pang of nostalgia, a sense of loss for the serenity that has been a constant companion. Yet, it is accompanied by a profound gratitude for the beauty witnessed, the peace experienced, and the simplicity that taught me more about myself than I could have imagined.
As I bid farewell to this haven, I carry with me not just memories but a piece of its essence, forever a part of my soul’s eternal inexhaustible treasure.)
In Chhindwara's embrace, time softly sighs,
A place where nature's whispers mesmerize.
With every weather, a gentle touch of grace,
In this haven, memories find their sacred space.
A home, weathered by two centuries past,
With walls that hold stories, steadfast and vast.
Tall pillars stand guard, amidst verdant green,
A sanctuary where beauty is forever seen.
Trees of myriad hues, a symphony in bloom,
Their whispers of solace dispel any gloom.
Birds dance among branches, a vibrant array,
Their songs weaving dreams that gently sway.
On wide verandas, I sit and I breathe,
Inhaling tranquillity, watching nature's reprieve.
The air so pure, it soothes the soul's flight,
In this sanctuary, time takes its gentle flight.
As I bid adieu to this haven so dear,
Memories cherished, mingled with a tear.
For in Chhindwara's embrace, I found my release,
A piece of paradise, where my soul finds peace.
So let the world echo with tales of this place,
Where simplicity thrives, and time finds its grace.
Chhindwara, my haven, my sanctuary true,
Forever etched in my heart, in skies of blue.
